Towkay Winner At Hollywood Park

With the arrival of the first winter tracks in New Zealand, a number of Towkays better performers have gone to the spelling paddock, however the Towkay flag has still been flown abroad and this time at one of the premier tracks in America. The winner of 3 races here before he was exported, the John Worley bred Towzee (Towkay-Classic Realm) tasted American success recently when winning over 1200m at Hollywood Park in California. Towzee is a full sister to the Guy Williams bred Starkay, a dual American stakeswinner.

Towkay had another winner in Singapore with King Towkay (Towkay-Cause For Applause) winning there over 1200m last Friday. Bred by Ms JT Hemingway and Carey Pearce, King Towkay is a full brother to Opiki winner of the 2004 Group 3 Stewards Handicap.

The LA bred Inca Princess (Towkay-Follow The Sun) registered her second win when taking an 1100m event in New South Wales on 25 May.

Unbeaten triallist Secret Mission (Towkay-Secret Step), down to make her long awaited debut at Hastings last week was a late scratching due to the downgraded track conditions. From breeder Don Gordon's wonderful Secrecy/Mun Lee family, the Kelly Burne trained three-year-old filly may go to the paddock now until the spring.

A maiden win at Werribee in July last year to a placing in this years Group One Doncaster Handicap and a live chance in next months Group One Stradbroke Handicap, makes Pinnacles (Fuji Kiseki-Galroof) a candidate for the most improved horse in Australia. And it's a sure bet that LA client Ricky Savory will be cheering for the four-year-old as he chases glory in Queenslands time honoured sprint. Ricky's mare Steluta - dam of leading stayer Gorky Park - happens to be a half sister to Galroof.

Those of you needing some breeding inspiration during the winter months should read the article in this month's New Zealand Thoroughbred on LA client Alan Jackson.

Don't delay in making a booking to Towkay and Zed (Zabeel-Emerald Dream). Sam feel's he's never been busier at the same stage of the year fielding bookings so the signs, are looking good for another busy year for both our stallions. Towkay needs little introduction especially after the domestic season he's enjoyed and the Zed story is set to get off to a cracking start this spring with 119 mares due to foal to the blueblood. You can reach Sam on 0274 853 400.
