The Andrew Forsman-prepared Shoebill made the long trip south to Tauherenikau a worthwhile one when she produced a strong performance over 1600 metres to shed her maiden tag.

The well-related Per Incanto three-year-old was sold through LA’s 2024 draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $260,000 with the Cambridge trainer signing the ticket with Andrew Williams Bloodstock and Bevan Smith.

A sister to this season’s Listed Maribyrnong Trial winner Eurocanto, Shoebill is the first foal of the Savabeel mare Shespending who is a sister to the Listed Lonhro Plate winner Tilianam and the family of the late multiple Group 1 winner and successful sire Sacred Falls.

History, tradition, family, good values and lots of fun. Also when we inspect an LA yearling we do so with confidence in the horses’ upbringing, soundness and temperament. It’s a theory that has worked well because with Dominic we’ve bought the likes of Redeem The Dream and the stakeswinner Sir Lovesalot
