LA Treble in Hong Kong
The likes of Armada, More Bountiful and Special Day's have given the farm its share of highlights in Hong Kong over recent seasons but Saturday's treble at Sha Tin was a first for us as two of the last three races fell to LA bred horses while the other leg of the cards final treble went the way of an LA reared and sold horse.
LA bred National Treasure (Pins-Trigon Lass) won brilliantly fresh-up over 1400m on Saturday and recorded his fourth success for the season from just five starts. The John Size trained four-year-old was an $180,000 purchase by John Foote Bloodstock from Anzac Lodges draft at the 2008 Karaka Ready To Run sale.
The second leg of Saturday's treble went the way of the Angela Williams nee Irving bred Goodview Successor (O'Reilly-Zalass), who took out a Class Three event over 1800m, his third win in his last four starts in Hong Kong. Goodview Successor, who was a $50,000 purchase by John White Bloodstock from our 2008 Karaka Select Sale draft, will hopefully have a half brother or sister by our new stallion Per Incanto on the ground next spring, with Zalass due to visit the son of Street Cry this season.
PER INCANTO 16.1hh Street Cry - Pappa Reale by Indian Ridge Service Fee $4,000 plus gst LFG
- First son of Champion Sire Street Cry to stand at Stud in NZ
- Champion 3YO Sprinter in Italy 2007 Undefeated
- Winner of 6 of his 13 starts
- The UK racing Post listed Per Incanto as the 4th highest rated 3YO in the world over 6 furlongs
Last but by no means least, the final race of the day resulted in a most deserved win for the LA and Pip McCarroll bred Fun Heroes (Towkay-Ashley Downs) who overcame another tough barrier draw to win a Class Three event over 1400m. Fun Heroes, who is a half sister to the New Zealand Oaks runner-up Can't Keeper Down, was a $100,000 purchase by Ginger Tankard's Waikato Bloodstock from our 2008 Karaka Select Sale draft.
The LA bred and owned Aspinal (Pins-Clermont Rose) capped some wonderful form with a comprehensive win foran enthusiastic syndicate, in the feature sprint at the Cambridge Jockey Club's Premier Meeting on Saturday 29 April. The four-year-old mare flew to Australia on Sunday and will start at Caulfield this Saturday.
As a shareholder in the Homebush Partnership, LA had double cause for celebration on the Te Rapa card, courtesy of the win of their representative Hammer Down in the Group Three Windsor Park Stud Breeders Stakes. This syndicate has had great fun racing some nice horses over recent seasons and we can look forward to more of the same with Hammer Down next season.
