The thrill of owning a winning horse you have bred is hard to beat but there is something even more special when that horse is raced with a group of close friends.
LA are part of the BLEAP (Blokes and Ladies Expecting Astronomical Profits) Syndicate who enjoyed a lot of thrills and fun a few seasons back racing the Listed winning filly Rapid Kay (Towkay –Racing Waters) and who now race the promising four-year-old mares Kekova (Elusive City – Racing Waters) and Skittle (Pins – Rapid Kay), both of whom won within 48 hours of each other last week.
Last Thursday saw Kekova - in her first start since her luckless fifth in the Listed Wairarapa Breeders Stakes - win over 1200m at Woodville, while Skittle was victorious over 1400m on Premier Day at Trentham.
Both mares are putting together very tidy race records - Kekova’s latest success was her fourth in 16 starts, while Skittle’s win was her fifth overall and fourth from her last five starts. A deserved crack at black-type awaits both mares before the end of the season.
Hey Ha Master (Towkay-Tarred n’ Gold) broke through for a well deserved maiden success when winning over 1200m in Hong Kong on 7 March.
