Australian City Double For Nadeem

Kareeming (Nadeem-Karamah by Unfuwain) defeated a strong field of promising staying horses, including the ex New Zealanders Kilarney Kid and stakeswinner Lady Cumquat, to win over 2500m at Moonee Valley on Saturday. The Pat Carey trained four-year-old, who was coming off a win over 2000m at Caulfield the Saturday week prior, took his stake earnings to 190K with his latest success.

A stakeswinner earlier in the season, the Kris Lee’s trained filly Savoureux (Nadeem-Ripe Plum by Spectrum) showed she was again nearing the kind of form that would warrant a trip to Brisbane in search of more black-type success, when she won over 1200m at Rosehill on Saturday.

Nadeem’s third Australian winner for the day may not have been at a city meeting, but it seems just a matter of time before we shall be reporting that accomplishment by the promising three-year-old Ice Bucket (Nadeem-Keys by Distant Music), unless he’s dispatched to Hong Kong in the meantime. The Gary Moore trained galloper who produced an almost unheard of, for a non city meeting event, 32.81 second last 600m to win at the Gold Coast, is owned in Hong Kong. Saturday’s success is his third from just four career starts.

A slow start is usually the death-kneel for any runner over 1000m but Sun Pioneer (Nadeem-Sweeper by End Sweep) showcased his potential to overcome the setback and record a strong win over the minimum trip in Singapore on Friday. Starting an-odds on favourite after a second on debut in March at his only prior start, the Desmond Koh trained three-year-old looks a horse to follow.

Locally, Gene Tsoi’s improving filly Galaxy Garden’s (Nadeem-Miss Galileo by Galileo) showed she has a future over further with a strong maiden win over 1400m at Riccarton on Friday.

Towkay, who has been doing a great job of matching his barn mates run of winners of late, recorded a double over the long weekend courtesy of a couple of promising types. Up in Hong Kong on their big group 1 card, the LA and Don Gordon bred Ah Bo (Towkay-Dancing Daze by Dance Floor) was successful over 1400m, while at the local meeting here on holiday Monday, the Barlow Thoroughbred bred and Brown Thoroughbreds part owned Castup (Towkay-Agra) was a game winner over 1600m, despite sitting three deep throughout.
