It may have taken until the very last lot of the weanling section but Trelwaney Stud’s purchase of our Savabeel-Kahurangi filly for $135,000 on Tuesday capped a successful start to the National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale for the farm. It was the second highest priced filly of the sale.
On the back of strong yearling sale results and racetrack performances that currently have him equal with Savabeel as N.Z’s leading three-year-old sire of individual winners, Per Incanto had another strong sale with his four LA weanling colts averaging $20,000.
The renewed buyer confidence in the weanling market carried on through to the broodmare section where the highlight for LA came with John Foote’s purchase of the young mare Mawaakib, in foal to Nadeem, for $45,000.
