Fittingly in a week that saw his sire ascend to the position of New Zealand’s leading progenitor of three-year-old individual winners, Lanciato (Per Incanto-Surreptitious by O’Reilly) comprehensively defeated a field of promising three-year-olds at set weights over 1600m at Te Rapa on Saturday.
With subsequent Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1 placed Stolen Dance winning the same race last year, and having the likes of Derby place-getter Raghu amongst the beaten brigade in this year’s contest, Lanciato’s owners the Homebush Partnership justifiably have plenty to look forward to.
Lanciato, who was bred by JML Bloodstock and LA, was one of seven individual winners for Per Incanto across Australasia during the last week.
