Exciting Per Incanto Two-Year-Old Makes Winning Debut

With three trial wins from as many outings and the races history of throwing-up quality gallopers, Star Performance’s (Per Incanto-Star Guest by Pentire) two and a quarter length winning debut in the two-year-old event at The Cambridge Jockey Clubs meeting at Te Rapa on Saturday has connections justifiably excited for the Per Incanto geldings future.

Star Performance, who has been unbeaten in all three of his lead-up trials, is prepared at Byerley Park in Karaka by Danny Walker.

“Everything I’ve done with this horse has been aimed toward his three-year-old season,  I said to Alysha (Collett) to ride him as he jumped and I would just have been happy to see him do things right and be running on,” Walker said.

“It was the last roll of the dice really for a good track in the autumn and I’ll put him aside now,” he said.

Star Performance, who was purchased out of LA’s 2017 Karaka Premier draft, was bred by Christine and Pete Algie and is a half brother to their Gr.3 Manawatu Cup (2300m) winner and Gr.1 Auckland Cup (3200m) placegetter Jacksstar (Zed) as well as their stakes winning mare Anniesstar (Zed).

Star Guest, who has a weanling colt by Darci Brahma, is back in foal to Per Incanto, while Anniesstar delivered her first foal last spring, a cracking Per Incanto filly.
