Foals Worth The Wait

All the signs were that Per Incanto would leave great foals but you are always a little nervous awaiting their arrival. The big wet has meant the mares are running over, actually the foaling paddocks are like an Auckland Supermarket at dinner time, but his first foals have finally arrived and they are everything we could have hoped for and more.

The first foal on the farm belonged to the Canny Lad mare One Keen Lass. He is a striking brown colt with all his dad’s quality features; a striking head, great bone and a good depth of girth with natural muscle. Fittingly Kirsty Percy who works in the LA office shares in the ownership of the colt.

Arche, the dam of the stakeswinner Miss Millbrook left a very similar colt with the same traits which is going to make it very difficult to tell them apart, which is a good problem to have. The first Per Incanto filly was the first foal out of a half sister to Patinack’s stakes winning filly Marquardt. The only difference with her is that she is a girl.

Nadeem, who is going to serve a book of close to 100 mare this season, left another winner in Australia last week in the form of Raging to Win (Nadeem-Calm As A Lady) who won over 1150m. Nadeem also had another winner yesterday and its name is Mariah’s Pulse and it is out of Evana at Seymour.

Good genuine personalities, hard workers but plenty of fun
