Elusive Group One Just A Matter Of Time For LA Bred

Xanadu (Elusive City-Forest Dream) firmed to favourite for the Group One Spring Classic at Hastings in a fortnight following her third placing in the Group One Windsor Park Plate over 1600m at the same venue on Saturday. Her latest performance where she powered home from near last at the turn mirrored her two previous group one placings - which were over 1400m and 1600m - indicating that the 2000m of the Spring Classic should suit the LA bred mare ideally.

Our interest at Hastings also focused on the LA owned Kekova (Elusive City –Racing Waters) pictured left and Aspinal (Pins-Clermont Rose) who both resumed in the open 1200m. Both mares showed they were on target for black type races this season with Kekova finishing strongly into second and Aspinal a rather unlucky fourth after getting clear very late in the home straight.

Congratulations to connections of Finn Moss successful in the Little Avondale Per Incanto Premier 1300 at Hastings on Saturday. Per Incanto’s impressive foals continue to look likes peas from a pod- click on the word foaling on the top of this page and see for yourself!

Nadeem had another Australian winner last week with Bengal Angel (Nadeem-Foscat) winning over 1400m in New South Wales. We are delighted with the response from New Zealand breeders to the group one winning two-year-old son of Redoute’s Choice and he will serve around 100 mares this season.

Golden Tower (Towkay-Capital Gold) won over 1400m in the South Island last week.

The strength of the families that the farm has built up over the years was evidenced again recently with the emergence of the latest star of Sydney racing Proisir. The Gai Waterhouse trained colt descends from Sunbride, a foundation mare for the families Te Parae Stud and recipient of the New Zealand Broodmare title on two occasions.

Excellence, under-pinned by a good public profile that is down to earth and friendly
