Towkay: A Timely Reminday

The weekend of racing once again highlighted to breeders the wonderful versatility of Towkay.

Firstly, diminutive Surf Patrol (Towkay-Out on Bail) defied her record of not having won on a firm track when she scored over 1600m at New Plymouth on Saturday . The Sue Harty bred mare has been a most consistent performer with Saturday’s success her sixth from 42 career starts which have also seen the six-year-old mare register ten minor placings.

Sunday’s meeting at Te Rapa saw How True (Towkay-Agra) successful over 2400m while just a few hours later the LA bred Gorgeous Life (Towkay-Clermont Lass) won a 1400m event in Hong Kong.

Towkay also had a winner at Wingatui last Wednesday in the form of Delighful Belle (Towkay-Goodwood), who scored over 1200m.

Our new stallion Nadeem has sired a number of winners lately from Mr Prospector line mares and the trend has continued with Oracle Master (Nadeem-Lady Gulch) successful over 1400m in Macau last week.

Our racing focus this week will be on the big meeting at Hastings. It will be so fitting to see the LA bred mare Xanadu (Elusive City-Forest Dream) break her run of group one placings and record a well deserved win in the Group One Spring Classic, while the farm’s mares Aspinal (Pins-Clermont Ross), who tested in foal to Zabeel last week, and Kekova (Elusive City-Racing Waters) will be leading contenders in the Group Three Traderacks Stakes after both performing creditably on the first day of the Rush Munro Spring Carnival.

Excellence, under-pinned by a good public profile that is down to earth and friendly
