Group 1 WFA Placing for Per Incanto

Shadows Cast (Per Incanto-Ages Past by Slavic) ran second to Wyndspelle at Trentham in the 1600m Group 1 Captain Cook Stakes yesterday but the high class performer lost little in his ongoing battles with the Benner/Wynyard trained chargeand they look set to be a real feature of summer racing.

Last season’s Group 1 Thorndon Mile and dual Group 2 winner took his stake earnings through the $500k mark for owner Ron Cunningham and trainer Mark Oulaghan.

Meanwhile another Per Incanto black-type performer showed his class with an all the way win in the open 1200m at Riccarton on Friday, in turn pointing the spotlight on his full sister who sells as LOT 935 in LA’s Karaka Book 2 draft.

The Michael Daly trained Don Carlo (Per Incanto-Turf Fire by O’Reilly) took his record to eight wins from 17 starts with his defeat of the stakes winners Emily Margaret and Enzo’s Lad in a swift 1.07.98.
