Group One Placing A Reminder Of Xanadu's Class

While injury sadly denied Xanadu (Elusive City-Forest Dream) a crack at the summer three-year-old filly pattern races, the LA bred filly's effort for third placing in the Group One Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Te Aroha on April was a timely reminder of her class and that her debut stakes success is all bit inevitable.

Faced with a wide draw, rider Michael Coleman had little choice but to settle towards the rear of the field early and ride the filly for luck on a Te Aroha track that lived up to it's reputation for favouring on-pace runners. Given these obstacles the long striding filly's effort to charge home out wide for a close third placing was most commendable.

The focus around the farm at present is very much on getting our draft ready for the National Broodmare, Weanling and Mixed Sale which gets underway at Karaka on 7 May. Sires represented amongst our 19 strong weanling draft include Mastercraftsman, O'Reilly, Savabeel, Towkay, Tavistock and Road To Rock, while our broodmare selection features four young mares in foal to our exciting new sire, the group three winning Street Cry sprinter Per Incanto.

Selling as Lot 41 in the Sale is our weanling Elusive City filly from Auxerre and she received a significant pedigree update courtesy of the win by her half brother Elleaye (Towkay-Auxerre) at Wingatui last week over 1200m. Elleaye was bred by LA in partnership with Brian Collins
