Adelaide Winner Highlights Pedigree Options for Nadeem
Progressive 4YO Redeem Bounty (Nadeem-Sparkling Bounty by Celestial Bounty), victorious over 1400m at Morphettville last week, is another example of the success breeders are enjoying from exploiting some proven pedigree patterns with the Group 1 winning son of Redoute’s Choice.
Nadeem’s incredible strike rate with Never Bend line mares, which capitalises on a duplication of the half brothers Bold Reason and Never Bend has been well documented, while in Redeem Bounty’s case it’s the proven duplication of the wonderful matron Best In Show that many pedigree purists will see as the key to unlocking the potential of the David Jolley trained galloper.
Celestial Bounty the dam-sire of Redeem Bounty is a son of Try My Best who in turn is from a daughter of Best In Show. Locally breeders have a number of opportunities to replicate this same pattern, the most obvious examples being from using mares by O’Reilly, Towkay and Alamosa.
Following on from the impressive debut win of the three-year-old Spanish Bay (Nadeem – Belle Jest by Rory’s Jester) in Singapore last week, Exquisitely Sweet (Nadeem –Empirical by Woodman) made it a winning double for his sire when he took out a 1200m event in Singapore on Sunday by four and a half lengths.
Consistent mare Moscow Pearl, who won over 1400m in Victoria last Sunday, was bought from our 2010 Karaka draft by Gary Vile for just $7,000.
One of the exciting performances last week came an LA bred and Ken Kelso trained Irish Moon (O’Reilly-Moonstrummer by Stravinsky), who defeated the group winning 2YO Vinnie Eagle and the highly touted Weregoingtogetcha, when successful over 1300m at Taupo on Friday. The lightly raced 5YO, who we bred in partnership with Graeme Gimblett, is owned by John Gilbert, John’s family and friends.
The Ricky Savory and LA bred Rorippa (Towaky-Steluta by Defensive Play) added to her impressive record down south when she scored over 1200m on Thursday. She looks a nice prospect for some intermediate grade assignments over the New Zealand Cup Carnival.
A feature of Saturday’s domestic racing was another success for the LA and Rob Tunnicliffe bred Permesso (No Excuse Needed-Cymbidium by Centaine), who recorded her third win from her last four starts, and her fifth in total, when successful over 2200m at Te Aroha on Saturday.
