KEKOVA: Black Type Run Continues For Farm

The LA bred and raced Kekova (Elusive City-Racing Waters) bought more joy to her great bunch of owners and further enhanced her broodmare value with a typically gritty performance to land the Listed D.Reynolds Electrical Great Easter Stakes at Riccarton on Saturday. Never really comfortable in the heavy track conditions, the five-year old mare called on all her class to record her seventh career victory and her second stakes success – her first came on a firm track in the Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes in February.

Kekova’s win continued a great run in stakes company for horses bred on the farm over the last month; joining group one winners Xanadu (Elusive City- Forest Dream) and Viadana (Towkay-Yeah Nah).

Brannickers (Darci Brahma-Nikki’s Bride) win in New South Wales on Thursday gave her breeders, LA, Don Gordon and Bryan Hutchinson an extra reason for a celebratory drink on Thursday evening as they also share in the ownership of the Kris Lees trained filly.

Mr Smart (Nadeem – Hasnaeel Reef) recorded his second win in five career starts when scoring in a $22,000 1600m event at Kembla Grange on Tuesday.

Keyarna Blue (O’Reilly – Oh Blue Angel) was an impressive winner over 1600m in Victoria on Monday at her third career start. She was purchased from our 2011 Karaka Select draft by Kieran Moore Bloodstock.

Our draft for the National Weanling and Broodmare Sale, which gets underway on Wednesday, has headed north. Pop in and see us in our usual spot in barn D and take a look at Per Incanto’s first foals and see what all the fuss is about.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to all the team at Little Avondale for doing another amazing job looking after my mare and bringing her precious foal safely into the world. Always such a relief knowing they will have the best of care with you!
