LA Broodmares Great Start

An $18,000 investment by LA at a Sydney broodmare sale looks like it may have paid off in spades.

On Tuesday at Te Aroha, the Lance O'Sullivan and Andrew Scott trained 1st starter Karman Line (Myboycharlie-World Away by Pierro) was a spectacular winner of a maiden fillies and mares event over 1400m.

LA purchased World Away, the dam of Karman Line, for just $18,000 from the 2018 Inglis Sydney Broodmare Sale. She was carrying Karman Line, her first foal, at the time.

Karmen Line, who was $16,000 purchase by Cambria Park from LA’s 2019 NZB National Weanling Sale draft, looked a forlorn hope with 200m to run when held up on the inside of runners, before jockey Craig Grylls extracted her almost sideways to get clear running from where she finished over the top of her nine rivals.

World Away is an unraced daughter of American grade 1 winner Miss World and further back this is the family of Group 1 winners Doyen, Moonshell and Miss Finland.

World Away’s 2nd foal, a Per Incanto filly, who was passed in for $80,000 from LA’s 2021 Karaka Book 1 Sale draft, will be trained by Alan Sharrock. She recently foaled a filly by Australian Group 1 winning sprinter Exceedance (pictured) and has been served by Per Incanto.

A real sense of stockmanship and a love of the animal. When our mares arrive back from LA, they look like they’ve had a month at Club Med, with some of the trimmings of the buffet, but also the glow of having had the attention of a personal trainer
