LA Grad Flying High

Exciting three-year-old prospect Luna Capella continues to make a compelling case for an early crack at black-type company.

The well-related LA homebred remained unbeaten after two outings for trainer Anna Furlong when she comfortably put away her age group rivals over 1200 metres at Wingatui under rider Billy Jacobson.

The daughter of Tivaci now looks a live contender for the Listed Gore Guineas 0ver 1335 metres in a fortnight’s time.

Luna Capella is the first foal of the Shooting To Win mare Keke Star, whose stakes-winning dam Kekova is a half-sister to Towkay’s Listed Taranaki 4YO Handicap winner and multiple Group 1 placegetter Rapid Kay.

Another half-sibling Geordie Girl is the dam of the three-time top-flight winner Legarto.

First and foremost, stockman and people whose interest in the animal translates into an innate ability to read how a horse will develop. I’ll see a foal at LA and Sam or Buzz will tell me how they expect it to develop. I’ll see it during my Karaka inspections 12 months later, and you could blow me over with a feather
