There were divided loyalties on the farm when Survived (Zed-Liberal by Generous) and Viadana (Towkay-Yeah Nah by Kinjite) both pictured right, fought out the finish of the 1600m Group 3 Stella Artois Tauranga Stakes at Gate Pa on Saturday. Survived who held off Viadana by a short half head is by our former stallion Zed while the runner-up was bred by the stud.
Although narrowly defeated, Viadana’s effort was full of merit coming from last on the turn and further reinforcing the impression that she has come back an even better mare than the one who tasted group 1 success last season. Her latest performance looks sure to generate even more interest in her full brother who sells on our behalf as LOT 300 in the Karaka Ready to Run Sale this Wednesday.
LA’s other Ready to Run entries are LOT 10, a Pentire gelding from a fast Australian female and LOT 291,another well bred Towkay gelding being a full sister to the multiple group 1 placed mare Kay’s Awake.
Nadeem’s sprinting son Sterling City (Nadeem-So Gorgeous by Brief Truce) narrowly missed landing a hat trick of group wins with his narrow fast finishing second in Sunday’s 1200m Group 2 Jockey Club Sprint at Sha Tin in Hong Kong. A member of Nadeems’oldest crop, the five-year-old gelding won group 2 and 3 contests at his previous two starts respectively.
