While the accolades were rightfully all for the winner, Nature Strip, outside of the world's leading turf sprinter, no other runner produced a better trial for next month’s Everest in Saturday’s AUS1 million 1100m Group 2 Shorts at Randwick than Lost and Running (Per Incanto – Dreamlife by Danroad).
Three and four deep for the entire race, Lost and Running still had the audacity to produce a strong finishing burst to run 3rd, a length and 1/2 from the winner.
Considering he was first up on the back of two easy trials and on ground much softer than he prefers, the Per Incanto 6YO looks right on target to improve on his 4th placing behind Nature Strip and Eduardo in in last year's Everest when he lines up again in the $15 million event on October 15.
There are three spaces remaining in Per Incanto’s 2022 book. Given the performances of Lost And Running and Roch N Horse in consecutive weekends in Australia, and what both have to look forward to this spring, breeders are encouraged to move swiftly to secure these opportunities.
