With multiple stakesplacings throughout her career, including a third placing behind champion fillies Atlantic Jewel and Mosheen in the Group 1 1000 Guineas, Sharnee Rose (Nadeem – Farasha by Jeune )was overdue the black-type success that finally came her way in the 1400m Group 3 Golden Pendant at Rosehill in Sydney on Saturday.
The five-year-old mare got home in a driving finish to beat the Group 1 winning mare Red Tracer with the well fancied dual group 1 winning mare Appearance ending up in fourth position.
Sharnee Rose’s win gave Nadeem (Redoute’Choice – Candide by Sound Reason) his ninth individual stakeswinner, an extremely good achievement for a stallion with his oldest crop just five years of age.
Nadeem now has seperate group 2 and 3 winners over 1400m in Sydney this year something that is bound to strike a chord with Australian buyers when they find themselves a Nadeem yearling in the Karaka Sales catalogue.
The LA bred Savvy Nature (Savabeel – Generous Nature) went within a half a head of making it a memorable day at Rosehill, when just failing to pick-up the Darley colt Complacent in the 1800m Group 2 Gloaming Stakes. Some consolation is the way the three-year-gelding finished off the race which argues well for his longer Group 1 Spring Champion and VRC Derby assignments.
While the LA bred Group 1 Windsor Park Plate winner Xanadu (Elusive City – Forest Dream) will be missing there is still a distinct LAflavour to this Saturdays Group 1 Turks Spring Classic at Hastings with the two likely favourites Survived and Nashville having strong connections with the farm. Group 1 winner Survived is by former LA stallion Zed while Nashville’s mother Royal Kiss boards at LA. Kekova, raced by the BLEAP syndicate will be steeping out for the Group 3.
