The Hawkes Bay Triple Crown remains elusive for another year but on Saturday we went within a whisker of a rather unique treble of our own when Nashville was piped on the line in the Gr. 1 Turks Spring Classic, with Survived (Zed – Liberal by Generous) a game third.
You see, Royal Kiss, Nashville’s dam boards on the farm and of course Survived, by the former LA domiciled stallion Zed, had taken out the first leg, the Gr.1 Makfi Challenge Stakes and the LA bred Xanadu (Elusive City – Forest Dream) claimed the Gr.1 Windsor Park Plate, the second leg of the triple crown.
Royal Kiss has a full brother to Nashville at foot that looks set to be a feature offering amongst our yearling sale draft in 2015.
Recent LA bred Gr.3 winner Savvy Nature’s (pictured left) half brother Sir Ferrari (Testa Rosa-Generous Nature by Carnegie), a stakes place getter from last season, won over 1500m in Macau on Saturday.
Generous Nature who now has two stakes performers from three foals of racing age recently delivered an outstanding Nadeem colt here that promises to be a great advertisement for the first local crop of Nadeem yearlings when they head off to the sales in 2015.
Nadeem had two nice winners on Monday. Redeem Beauty (Nadeem-Sparkling Beauty) won by 3.5 lengths over 1350m in South Australia while Mahbeer (Nadeem-Burleigh Sky) won a 1200m event at Avondale.
