Quality Nadeem mare Sharnee Rose (Nadeem-Farasha by Jeune) (pictured left photographer: Dallas Kilponen) took her stake earnings to $465,000 with her latest black-type success in the Gr. 3 Angst Quality at Randwick in Sydney on Saturday. The Kris Lees trained 5YO, successful in the Gr.3 Golden Pendant at her previous start, looks a likely runner in the Gr.1 Myer Stakes over the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Placed behind the great fillies Atlantic Jewel and Mosheen in the 1000 Guineas at three, Sharnee Rose is the latest example of Nadeem’s ability to leave horses that train on. Sterling City (Nadeem – So Gorgeous by Brief Truce ) successful in a group event at his final start last season in Hong Kong, steadily improved his ranking over two seasons of racing there to the extent that his Gr. 3 win came at his first attempt in black-type company.
Nadeem now has nine individual stakeswinners, quite an achievement for a stallion whose oldest crop are just five years of age. He represents wonderful value for breeders this season at $10,000 plus GST.
Namjong Turbo (Nadeem – Fine Return by High Yield) was an easy two and a quarter length winner over 1800m in Hong Kong on Saturday afternoon.
The sire power of Street Cry was in evidence again when his son Long John defeated a class field of fellow three-year-olds to win the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas in Melbourne on Saturday. Long John in the process became his sire’s 14th individual Gr.1 winner.
Our exciting new sire Per Incanto (Street Cry – Pappa Reale by Indian Ridge) has an outstanding line-up of first crop yearlings selling at the sales this summer.
He may only have run third but the performance of the LA bred Savvy Nature (Savabeel – Generous Nature by Carnegie) in the 2000m Gr.1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick on Saturday was still full of merit, running on from well back and his clash with the likes of Long John and Complacent in the VRC Derby in three weeks time shapes up as one of the features of the spring.
