Timely Stakes Success For Towkay Mare

Last season’s Gr.1 Easter Handicap winner Viadana (Towkay-Yeah Nah by Kinjite) pictured left, looks in for another successful season given her fresh-up win in the $50,000 1200m Listed 3 Lion Red Plate at Rotorua on Saturday. The 6YO LA bred mare now has the formidable record of eight wins, six minor placings and over $300,000 in stake earnings from 22 career starts.

Viadana, a $25,000 purchase from our 2009 Karaka Select draft by her trainer Lance Noble, has a full brother yeahnahtowkay1.jpgselling as LOT 300 pictured below right, at the Karaka Ready To Run Sale on 19 and 20 November. He is not the only well related Towkay 2YO we are down to sell at Karaka; LOT 291 is a full brother to the multiple Gr.1 placed Towkay mare Kay’s Awake. Our three Ready To Run horses did their gallops today in a time of LOT 10: 10.30, LOT 291: 10.31, and LOT 300: 10.30.

Towkay bought up a notable double at Rotorua when his 6YO-old daughter L ‘Ámour (Towkay- by Pentire) scored in the1400m Rotorua Rainbow Springs Hcp. With a win in the competitive Duoro Cup and a third placing in the Gr.3 Desert Gold Stakes on her resume, the Lisa Latta trained mare would be a deserving recipient of a black-type win for her owner/breeder John Fokerd.

Red Tracer’s win over a quality field of mares in the Gr.2 Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday franks the form round Sharnee Rose (Nadeem-Farasha by Jeune), Red Tracer’s conqueror at Gr.3 level at the Dane Shadow mares previous start. Sharnee Rose, who has won again at Gr.3 level since and Red Tracer are down to clash again in the Gr.1 Myer Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day.
