Per Incanto's streak in black type events continued at Te Rapa on Saturday when the Peter Lock trained Faithful Feat overcame 58.5kgs and the widest barrier to score a deserved win the 1400m Group 3 J Swap Sprint. The 5YO daughter of Per Incanto was beaten a nose in last season's Group 2 Westbury Classic.
With Faithful Feat’s victory, Per Incanto’s runners in his last six black-type races have produced five stakes performances including three wins, beginning with Belclare’s victory in the Group 3 Valachi Downs Canterbury Breeders Stakes, Faithful Feat, and the other victory was provided courtesy of Little Brose’s success in the Group 3 Merson Cooper Stakes at Caulfield. Charms Star ran 2nd in the Listed Wanganui Cup and Duke Wai 3rd in a Group 2 in Hong Kong.
Bred by Ian Macdonald and Peter Hart, from their Snitzel mare On Your Feet, Faithful Feat is Per Incanto's 27th individual stakes winner. MacDonald and Hart have an unraced 2YO brother by Time Test called Our Time, also trained by Peter Lock, while the 3YO full sister to Faithful Feat, who was $175,000 purchase from the LA draft at the 2021 Karaka Book 1 Sale by John O'Shea, is named Amrap and she won her 1st trial recently.
Faithful Feat is nominated for the Group 1 Thorndon Mile, a race won in 2019 by Per Incanto's son Shadows Cast for owner Ron Cunningham.
