LA are delighted to be part of NZB’s RTR Sale which will be held at Karaka on 16 and 17 November.
This year we have our draft spread between Diamond Lodge Lyndhurst Farm, Kilgravin Lodge, Kiltannon Stables and Riversley Park. The progress of the nine youngster’s education and development was evident in their breeze ups at Te Rapa on 17 and 18 October, which you can watch here http://www.nzb.co.nz/sales/pedigree.cfm?lot=1&sale_id=193
A big part of the Sale’s success in the last few years has been due to less of a focus on early maturing types and instead a broader offering of types and pedigrees. LA have answered this trend, in fact it has tended to suit our style of horse. Two of our recent graduates, Savvy Nature and Shotover River have to date won 15 races between them and over $1.5 million in stakemoney.
LOT 40 is a great way to kick off. From a stakeswinning mare with a genuine turn of foot, going by his type and breeze-up we may have got this mating spot on. Makfi has crossed well with Danzig and Sadlers Wells blood and this colt looks to have the makings of a lovely three-year-old.
Per Incanto, New Zealand’s leading sire of 3YO winners last season and sire of last month’s G2 Danehill Stakes winner Saracino has 12 lots catalogued to sell across the two days. The three Per Incanto lots being offered on behalf of LA present buyers with a variety of options. LOT’s 329 and 497, strong, athletic types from speed families, will make lovely trade horses, whilst LOT 328, is a colt from the wonderful Te Parae family of Grand Cidium, Dayana etc. in the news recently through the deeds of G1 Caulfield Guineas victor Divine Prophet.
Both colts from our new resident sire Nadeem will find plenty of appeal to those looking for Classic type 3YO's. LOT 269 is a leggy first foal of a 6 times winning mare stakesplaced at 1900m, and LOT 285 is the third live foal of a Singspiel mare, from a family stacked full of European black-type form.
We have two cracking Darci Brahma colts, again quite different types, in this year’s consignment. LOT 202 is a strongly made Darci in the mould of a Nashville or Super Easy. The second foal of stakes winning 2YO Extra Explosive, watching him breeze-up you wouldn’t have taken too much to conjure up the image of an undetonated package of dynamite! LOT 261, a half brother to an exciting Nadeemhorse in South Africa, has also thrown to his dam, a dual stakeswinner at 2000 and 2200m.
One of the most sought after horses in the catalogue is likely to be LOT 477 the only Savabeel from a G1 winning mare, this is the wonderful Vedodara family developed by Jim Barlow – Jim shares in the ownership of this colt with LA.
We trust that you’ll find the type of horse you’re after amongst our offering this year.
