Per Incanto’s popularity in Hong Kong and his increasingly successful deeds on Australian racetracks ensured LA’s draft of four Per Incanto yearlings at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, which concluded at Riverside on Monday evening, were very popular with buyers, helping the outstanding son of Street Cry to finish with a sale average of $310,000 making him NZ’s leading sire on averages at the sale.
Matt Becker, who has been instrumental in the purchase of many successful horses for leviathan Australian owner Ozzie Kheir, purchased the full brother to Jimmysstar and Charms Star for $260,000, while Annabel Neasham and Will Johnson Bloodstock bought the Farrelly filly for $240,000.
The full brother to Alexandra Quick and half to Karman Line went to Hong Kong’s Legends Bloodstock for $200,00 while the same amount secured the Winter Sky filly for DGR Thoroughbreds Duncan Ramage, perennially famous in Australasian thoroughbred circles for purchasing the mighty So You Think at Karaka and fellow LA graduates Roman Emperor AJC Derby Gr.1 and Kudakulari Listed winner.
And to cap a wonderful two days for Per Incanto, his only other lot in the sale, Elsdon Park’s full brother to the $4.3 million earner Lost And Running was bought by Andy Williams Bloodstock for $650,000, a fitting result for Lib Petgna who has been a very strong supporter of the stallion from the moment he began his career at LA. The colt is the most expensive Per Incanto yearling sold at public auction.
So, the curtain comes down on a successful summer of yearling sales for the farm. Sam and Catriona would like to thank all the staff for their tireless dedication to the horses and ensuring another season of fabulous results in the sale ring.
