Per Incanto’s Baba Mama Show’s Off In Hong Kong

Per Incanto’s only starter to date in Hong Kong, Baba Mama (Per Incanto-Irish Magic by O’Reilly) opened his account in spectacular fashion at Sha Tin on Sunday.

Bred by Masterton’s Ardsley Stud and sold form their 2015 Karaka Ready to Run draft, the 3YO chestnut gelding looked a forlorn hope at the top of the straight before sprinting impressively to land the 1200m event in a good time of 1.09.02.

Earlier in the afternoon, Ina Canta’s (Per Incanto-One Keen Lass by Canny Lad) easy win at Waipa lifted Per Incanto two wins clear of his nearest rival Savabeel in the race for the title of NZ’s leading sire of individual three-year-old winners.

Spanish Bay (Nadeem-Belle Jest by Rorys Jester) rounded out a good Sunday for the farm when he led throughout to win the 1400m $125,000 Kranji Stakes in Singapore. The 4YO son of Nadeem, whose latest success took his stake earnings to $600,000, was bought from our 2013 Karaka Select draft by Michael Freedman and Michael Wallace Bloodstock for $85,000.
