Our yearling sale preparation has started in earnest. Our consignment of 4 Per Incanto yearlings leaves on 13th January for the Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney on 19 and 20 January where Sledmere Stud will present the yearlings on our behalf.
All four yearlings have been selected specifically to appeal to the local market. The colt from Silk Spur hails from the family of recent VRC Derby winner Polanski, while Da Vinci Code the dam of LOT 111 is a half sister to the dam of recent impressive debut winner Far Fetched.
Nadeem (Redoute’s Choice-Candide), who has four lots in the Karaka Select Sale, including two in the Cambridge Stud draft as well as our own colt from Lady Nikolay, had a double in Australia last week. Capalbio (Nadeem-Golden Shoe by Deputy Governor) brought her record to three wins from just six starts when successful over 1450m in Victoria last Thursday while Mr Smart (Nadeem-Hasnaeel Reef) franked some strong form to win over 1750m in New South Wales last Monday.
It takes a good galloper to break the 1.22 mark for 1400m at Te Rapa and Zero Tua Hundred (Nadeem-Operetta Lass by Singspiel) did it in style making it consecutive wins with his latest all the way success at the Hamilton track on 21 December. The Roger and Darrel Lang trained four-year-old had won over 1400m at Te Aroha at his previous start.
Lideem (Nadeem-Lissande) made it a same day double for her sire when winning over 950m in Queensland.
Former smart local 3YO Precision King (Towkay-Quasi Stellar) achieved a first Hong Kong success with his win at Sha Tin over 1200m last Saturday.
Towkay looks to have another promising type in the Lisa Latta trained 3YO Mr Frankey (Towkay-Franchice by Icelandic) who capped consistent form with a well deserved win over 1300m at Awapuni on Boxing Day.
The LA bred Brah Spring (Darci Brahma-Rites of Spring by Stravinsky) posted consecutive wins when winning over 1200m at the Ellerslie twilight meeting last Wednesday. She followed this up with a competitive second at the Boxing day races at Awapuni.
