Even the wild Auckland weather couldn't put a damper on an outstanding NZB Karaka Book 1 Sale for Little Avondale and Per Incanto which concluded on Tuesday afternoon.
Per Incanto has had some memorable yearling sales, particularly in the last couple of years, but he went to a new level at Karaka this week producing a record yearling price for one of his progeny and a sale average of $210,000 for 17 yearlings sold.
Group 1 winning mare Shavarsti certainly saved her best for last when her 9th and final foal, a colt by Per Incanto sold for $450,000 to Queensland's KPW Bloodstock. The colt was presented for sale on behalf of LA, JML Bloodstock and Barlow Thoroughbreds.
LA also sold, on behalf of their fellow partner Constance Chen, the Per Incanto colt out of Makkura for $360,000 to the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The price was a wonderful result for a 19 November foal.
The farm was also delighted to produce results for clients Christopher and Susanna Grace and Narendra Balia. Christopher and Susanna sold an Almanzor filly for $260,000 and Narendra had a Per Incanto colt sell to Jamie Richards for $320,000.
LA sold six yearlings by Time Test in Book 1 for an average of just over $100,000. Buyers included John Foote, who also bought another yearling by the son of Dubawi, and Paul Moroney and Catheryne Bruggeman.
Book 1 wrapped up in a high note with the farms last lot, the Exceedance – World Away filly selling to her exciting half-sister Karmen Line’s trainers Lance O'Sullivan and Andrew Scott for $220,000, with Suman Hedge the underbidder.
Book 2 gets underway at 11am on Wednesday.
