Oak Hill (Per Incanto – Isstoora by High Chaparral) announced himself as a serious contender for feature black -type Melbourne sprints this spring with a statement fresh up performance to win the feature sprint over 1000m at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

A $180,000 purchase from LA’s Karaka Book 1 draft in 2022 by Paul Moroney and Ballymore Stables, the Per Incanto 5YO transferred to the stable of Ben, JD and Will Hayes after the passing earlier this year of his previous trainer Mike Moroney, who had expressed privately that he thought the Wes Van Der Scheer bred gelding was his next Group 1 winner.

Oak Hill, who now has the record of 7 wins and 2 minor placings from 14 career starts for stake earnings approaching AUS $500,000, is likely to have his next start in the Group 1 Moir Stakes over 1000m at Moonee Valley on 6 September.

Per Incanto also had another impressive Australian winner on Friday with the 4-year-old mare Miss Trentino (Per Incanto-Vienna Lady by Snitzel) breaking her maiden by 7 lengths over 1000m at Canberra.

The Centaine award winning stallion will serve a restricted book of 85 mares at LA this season at a fee of $60,000 plus GST.
