With an almost insatiable appetite for his progeny, from Hong Kong and more recently Australia, Per Incanto is relatively light on local representation these days, however racing on Sunday at Rotorua and Waipukurau unearthed four winners who clearly appreciated the firmer tracks and can maintain their form over the summer.
On debut, the JML Bloodstock bred and raced 3-year-old Zorero (Per Incanto – Lovecharm by Charm Spirit) was most impressive, striding away to win his 1200m event by nearly 3 lengths and run substantially quicker than the Rating 60 event over the same distance. Like Jimmysstar, he’s in the very capable hands of Guy Lowry and Leah Zydenbos.
Later on the Waipukurau card, the Auret family bred and raced Per Incanto mare Leica Pearl franked some nice trial form to score on debut over 1400m.
Up at Rotorua, the Joan Egan bred and raced 3-year-old To The Max (Per Incanto-Penny Bright by Pentire) came from last on the corner to break his maiden at just his 2nd start over 1230m. On the same programme, the Block Partnership bred Sixth Generation (Per Incanto-Xanadu by Elusive City) also came from the back of the field to record his first local victory after four successes in Hong Kong.
