For every syndicate member, including Little Avondale breeders/owners Sam and Catriona Williams, their world will forever be etched around two Group 1 winning days at Flemington where their Roch ‘N’ Horse defeated the best sprinters in Australasia, including Home Affairs, Giga Kick and the then top rated sprinter in the world Nature Strip.
Roch ‘N’ Horse’s career began with trainer Pam Gerard in New Zealand who identified her early on with recent NZ Hall of Fame inductee Michael Moroney taking over the training reins in Australia.
After a stellar racing career that includes Group 1 successes in the Newmarket Handicap and the Champions Sprint, along with a runner up finish by a nose in the Group 1 Telegraph and an outstanding third placing run behind Imperatriz in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes, the 6YO Per Incanto mare has been retired. 27 starts for 5 wins, 7 placings and over $3million in prizemoney.
Roch ‘N’ Horse gave LA and her racing ownership group Stuart & Rosie McLeod, Grant Sharman, William Parkinson, Graeme and Barbara Pickering, Adrian Cassin, Paul Collett, Mike Smith and Rob Wilson lifetime memories. The displays of emotion by her jockey’s Patrick Maloney and Jamie Mott as she crossed the line in both Group 1 wins and the birdcage celebrations that followed will live long in the almanacs of NZ racing.
Roch ‘N’ Horse will now be let down and served this spring by New Zealand's Champion sire for 22/23, Proisir.
