Sale Topper Tops Another Successful Week for Per incanto

A Per Incanto yearling colt topped the NZB South Island Sale on Friday, rounding out a week that saw the in-form stallion sire winners locally as well as in Australia and Singapore.

Offered by Invercargill’s Ravelston Stud, the colt from the O’Reilly mare The Dewdrop was purchased by Gary Carvell’s Hiwi Bloodstock for 100K.

“I sorted him out on pedigree to have a look at,” Carvell said. “It is a cross that works well, by Per Incanto out of an O’Reilly mare, and we’ve had a bit of luck with that cross before. I bought Baba Mama, who is bred on that cross and he has won four races in Hong Kong for trainer Peter Ho.”

“John Foote was under-bidder on him, everyone was on the horse, but at the end of the day in today’s market he wasn’t expensive.”

“Per Incanto is a good sire and he leaves runners. They are going well in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. Everyone we have had so far can run.”

Earlier in the week, Mohaka River (Per Incanto-Rivertaine by Centaine) made it successive wins with his latest Queensland success over 1200m while on Thursday the Haunui farm bred and part owned filly Marzemino (Per Incanto-Florimont y Pins) franked her debut second with a cosy win at Te Aroha over 1200m.

And on Friday evening, the LA bred three-year-old Per Incharge (Per Incanto-Maggs by Towkay) capped some good form to win over 1400m

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to all the team at Little Avondale for doing another amazing job looking after my mare and bringing her precious foal safely into the world. Always such a relief knowing they will have the best of care with you!
