Shotover River Back With A Bang

The LA bred Shotover River (Savabeel-Rivertaine by Centaine) continued his rise through the ranks of Queensland’s middle distance gallopers when successful in the 2200m Open Handicap at the Sunshine Coast track on Saturday, which was the major metropolitan meeting in the state.

Trained by the father and son training partnership of John, Dan and Chris Meagher in Brisbane, Saturday’s win was the six-year-old geldings fourth from his last seven starts which have also included two stakes placings over 1600m.

Lindsay Park Racing secured Shotover River for $85,000 from the Lyndhurst Farm draft at the 2011 Karaka Ready To Run Sale.

LA, who bred and sold Savabeel’s Australian Group 2 winner Savvy Nature, will offer two outstanding Savabeel colts at this month’s NZB Premier Sale on 25 and 26 January: LOT 301, the full brother to Savvy Nature and LOT 347 the first foal of the dual stakeswinning mare Kekova.

History, tradition, family, good values and lots of fun. Also when we inspect an LA yearling we do so with confidence in the horses’ upbringing, soundness and temperament. It’s a theory that has worked well because with Dominic we’ve bought the likes of Redeem The Dream and the stakeswinner Sir Lovesalot
