The Williams family savoured a special and immensely satisfying honour at the New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Awards on an evening of glitz and glamour in Auckland.
They were the recipients of the NZTR Award for Outstanding Contribution to Racing with three generations of LA Stud present with Sam and Dame Catriona Williams, Richard “Buzz” and Susie Williams and Tom and Gay Williams on hand to accept the award.
“It was a really cool evening, it caught us massively by surprise and everyone was humbled by the award. It’s about the whole family and the team at home,” Sam Williams said.
LA’s involvement in thoroughbred breeding and racing spans more than 85 years with the nursery currently home to Champion sire Per Incanto, who won both the Dewar and Centaine Awards for the 2025–26 season.
