Spectacular Result Caps 75th Celebration

Celebrating 75 years of the family breeding thoroughbreds has in its own right made this year one to remember at LA. How apt therefore, and possibly even a little uncanny given the relationship between the anniversary and the exact price, was it that the final day of the National Yearling Sale bought the farm their record price for a horse sold at auction.

The $775,000 paid by Ultra Thoroughbred’s Toby Koenig this afternoon for LOT 301, the Savabeel colt from

Generous Nature, surpassed the $700,000 received for the Redoute’s Choice filly Pachanga, a subsequent dual stakesplaced performer, from LA’s 2007 Karaka Premier draft.

Bred by LA, Anna and Ben Petro, and Kerry and Amanda Wilkins, the Savabeel colt looks set to be trained by Bjorn Baker in Sydney.

After missing out as under bidder on the Generous Nature colt, the China Horse Club secured the farms other Savabeel colt, from Kekova, later in the afternoon for $280,000.

Little Avondale finished 3rd overall on average.
