Two LA bred gallopers added further black-type to their records with placings in the stakes features at Ellerslie and Doomben last Saturday.
Irish Moon (O’Reilly-Moonstrummer by Stravinsky), who was bred in partnership with Graeme Gimblett, and is raced by valued clients the Spyglass Hill Syndicate, raced into Group 1 Sistema Railway calculations with his strong finish for second in the Group 3 1200m Concorde Stakes. The Ken and Bev Kelso trained six-year-old filled the same minor placing at his previous start in the Listed Lodge Sprint at Te Rapa.
Shotover River (Savabeel-Rivertaine by Centaine) continued his progression with a third placing in the 1640m Listed Brisbane Handicap at Doomben, just a fortnight after his fresh-up second in another Listed event over 1600m at the same track. With three consecutive city wins over 2200m to finish his last campaign, connections will be looking forward to getting the son of Savabeel back over a middle distance.
The Barlow Thoroughbred bred Cast-Up (Towkay-Agra by Danasinga) dented a lot of reputations and wallets with his win in a hotly contested R75 1600m at Trentham on Saturday.
