Stately Colt Highlights LA Book 2 Results

LA have enjoyed many magical moments across the 36 years of the NZB Yearling Sales at Karaka but it's arguable whether there's been any more emotion from the team as that which accompanied the sale of the Sword of State – Ohio Girl colt during the book 2 Sale which concluded on Thursday afternoon.

Pin hooked as a weanling for just $13,000 as a horse for the permanent staff to take through to Karaka and share in the sale proceeds, the colt certainly had the bonus of being by a first season sire who proved to be extremely popular across the five days of selling.

After a spirited bidding contest between a number of parties, helped by some outstanding Steve Davis auctioneering, the Sword of State colt was eventually knocked down for $100,000 to Ben Foote.

The Tarzino filly from the Per Incanto mare Confectionery fetched the 2nd highest price amongst the LA Book 2 draft, selling for $65,000 to VL Bloodstock from Cambridge.

LA would like to thank all the buyers of the farm’s yearlings and to a magical group of staff for their devotion to the horses over many months of rearing and preparation. The sale of the Sword of State colt was extremely well-deserved and some.
