Amanaat’s (Per Incanto-Mazij by General Nediym) victory in the Listed Wentwood Handicap (120mm) at Toowoomba on Saturday has given Per Incanto his second new stakes winner and third stakes performer in seven days.
After sitting three-deep with cover, the Shadwell bred 4YO swept to the lead shortly after turning for home before racing away for a three length win. Amanaat’s latest success is his seventh from his last eight starts and has taken his stake earnings to over 260k.
Per Incanto’s other Australian black-type runner on Saturday, Lanciato (Per Incanto-Surreptitious by O’Reilly) performed with real credit when running seventh in the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap won in race record time by Happy Clapper.
On the local front, genuine mare Royal Ruby (Per Incanto-Proof by Maroof) obtained important black-type for her eventual broodmare career with a third placing in the Listed LJ Hooker Manawatu Breeders Stakes (2000m) at Awapuni on Friday.
Earlier on the Awapuni card, Group 1 placed mare Sweepstake (Per Incanto-Lottery by Carnegie) resumed from a short break to win comprehensively over 1200m
