Another Successful Week for Per incanto

Per Incanto took his tally of winners for November to 18 following victories by Santa Monica (Per Incanto-Monarch by Volksraad) at Rotorua on Wednesday and Under Wraps (Per Incanto-Surreptitious by O'Reilly) at Avondale the following day.

Four-year-old gelding Under Wraps remains unbeaten this campaign after a fresh-up win at Te Aroha earlier in the month.

Perhaps the weeks most significant performance by one of Per Incanto's progeny, certainly from a longer term perspective, came in defeat. A  Brisbane trainer Liam Birchely debuted the two-year-old Magic Mystery (Per Incanto-Da Vinci Code by Danasinga) in NSW on Monday and the high-priced Karaka Select yearling almost justified the avalanche of late support, losing a head-bobbing finish despite being very slow away and running greenly.

Birchely, who has won the Karaka Million twice despite only buying sparingly at Karaka, has his sights set on another crack at New Zealand's richest race with the LA and Stephen Mercer bred colt.

History, tradition, family, good values and lots of fun. Also when we inspect an LA yearling we do so with confidence in the horses’ upbringing, soundness and temperament. It’s a theory that has worked well because with Dominic we’ve bought the likes of Redeem The Dream and the stakeswinner Sir Lovesalot
