Bourbonaire (Darci Brahma-Star Guest by Pentire) was a whisker away from delivering LA the Group 1 1600m 2000 Guineas held at Riccarton on Saturday.
He was bred by LA and Christine and Pete Algie and sold from LA's 2019 Karaka Book 1 draft to The Bourbon Lane Stable LLC for NZ$120,000. This was led by American investor Dennis Foster along with US syndicators Mike Mahon and Jamie Hill. Bourbonaire had to be very game to get as close as he did, suffering interference on two occasions during a roughly run classic.
LA will look to go one better in next week's 1000 Guineas with pre post second favourite Bonham (Per Incanto-Fortunes Choice by Redoutes Choice), who was bred by the farm and also came out of its 2019 Book 1 draft.
