International Buyers Continue Interest in LA Draft

LA’s popularity amongst the overseas buyers continued on the third day of the NZB National Yearling Sale at Karaka with sales to the USA and the UK while there were great results for a couple of significant vendors selling Per Incanto yearlings at Karaka for the first time.

Offered by LA in partnership with Peter and Christine Algie, the Darci Brahma – Star Guest colt sold for $120,000 to USA buyers, the second highest price this week so far for a yearling by the sire.

LA’s last lot for the day, Christopher and Susanna Grace’s Piero-Waikaha colt was snapped-up by UK bloodstock agents SackvilleDonald for $160,000.

The incredible start made by Per Incanto to his siring career has seen some major breeders use the stallion in the last three seasons with the first of those yearlings finding their way to Karaka this week. Following Trelawney’s sale of their Magic Briar filly yesterday to Mark Kavanagh, today saw Waikato Stud’s Per Incanto-Virginia filly realise $255,000, while earlier in the day Jamieson Park sold a Per Incanto colt for $180,000.

First and foremost, stockman and people whose interest in the animal translates into an innate ability to read how a horse will develop. I’ll see a foal at LA and Sam or Buzz will tell me how they expect it to develop. I’ll see it during my Karaka inspections 12 months later, and you could blow me over with a feather
