Per Incanto : Just Like Clockwork

It wouldn’t be a Saturday’s racing across Australasia without Per Incanto siring at least a metropolitan winning double, and despite the bad NZ weather robbing him of his best chance in the open handicap at Hawera, the son of Street Cry was on point again, and for good measure he also had a very progressive mare win at the NSW provincials.

Fernandez (Per Incanto-Raewyn Coup by Mossman) won her second race at Ruakaka when successful over 1200m.

The Ron and Judy Wanless owned Nobble Decree (Per Incanto-Sharvasti by Montjeu) made it consecutive wins when he scored over 1350m at Doomben. Bred by LA, Jim Barlow and JML Bloodstock, the progressive 3YO was a $450k purchase from LA’s Book 1 draft at Karaka 2023 by Kevin Walls.

On the same day the horse she defeated on debut won a Group 3 race in style at Caulfield, the Mathew Smith trained Prima Bella (Per Incanto- Brah Spring by Darci Brahma) was an equally impressive winner, albeit in BM 64, over 900m at Newcastle. The LA bred mare was a $320k purchase from the Sledmere draft at the 2022 Inglis Classic Sale for an ownership team that includes Francis and Christine Cook.

Prima Bella, whose record now stands at six starts for three wins and a placing, is an extremely valuable mare whatever level she eventually reaches on the racecourse, coming from the same family as Evaporate and Belluci Babe.
