Per Incanto Star Selected for the Everest

Per Incanto's impact on this years $20 million 1200m Group 1 the Everest has gained further momentum with the news that this season’s dual Group 1 winner Jimmysstar (Per Incanto – Anniessstar by Zed) has been selected by Tabcorp to run in their slot in the world's richest race on turf.

Current race favourite, and the world's highest rated sprinter, Kay Ying Rising is a son of the Per Incanto mare Missy Moo.

Bred by LA and Chrissie and Pete Algie, who all remain in the ownership, Jimmysstar won the 1100m Group 1 Oakleigh Plate, before making a successful transition to the weight for age ranks when successful in the 1400m Group 1 All Aged Stakes. The rising 6-year-old son of Per Incanto has a resume of 15 starts for 9 wins and five minor placings and $2.14 million in stake earnings.

Per Incanto's only runner to date in the Everest was Lost and Running who ran 4th to Nature Strip in the 2021 addition. The $4.5 million earner was a race morning scratching from the 2022 race when 2nd favourite.

Coincidentally both Jimmysstar and Ka Ying Rising (Wanganui) were bred in the Central Districts. Remarkedly If the Ardsley stud bred War Machine gets selected by a slot holder, which must be a realistic proposition given the recent record of Stradbroke Handicap winners in the race, that would give the Wairarapa two runners in the glamour event.
