Per Incanto Youngster Shines

LA homebred Incandescent closed out his juvenile campaign in style at Ellerslie with victory in the Listed Champagne Stakes.

The Roger James and Robert Wellwood-trained youngster had also won on debut at northern headquarters and in between times had posted three placings, including a runner-up finish in the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre Stakes.

“It’s a bit unusual for a Per Incanto two-year-old to win over a mile, but I was confident he would acquit himself very well,” James said.

The 37th stakes winner for his sire, Incandescent was sold at Karaka by LA for $200,000 and is the first foal of the Snitzel mare Saint Katarina who is due to foal later this year to Per Incanto’s son Little Brose.

History, tradition, family, good values and lots of fun. Also when we inspect an LA yearling we do so with confidence in the horses’ upbringing, soundness and temperament. It’s a theory that has worked well because with Dominic we’ve bought the likes of Redeem The Dream and the stakeswinner Sir Lovesalot
