Sweet Smile’s near faultless preparation continued at Ellerslie where the LA homebred gave weight and a beating to his rivals over 1400 metres.
The Jenna Mahoney-prepared son of Time Test completed a hat-trick of victories at northern headquarters in style and now has four wins and a runner-up finish since returning from Hong Kong.
Out of the now retired Singspiel mare Bella Rosalia, Sweet Smile was sold for $100,000 by LA at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale and trialled for Mahoney before relocating to Hong Kong where he placed from a handful of starts.
The five-year-old subsequently returned to the Byerley Park trainer’s stable and looks more than capable of making his way through to the open grade. PHOTO: Trish Dunell
