It has taken another high class performer to defeat the LA bred Xanadu (Elusive City-Forest Dream); this time in the Gr.1 Telegraph Handicap at Trentham on Saturday. Back in September last year, subsequent Cox Plate winner Ocean Park was all out to beat her in the Gr.1 Makfi Challenge Stakes , while on Saturday it took Gr.1 Captain Cook Stakes winner Final Touch to hold out Xanadu by a diminishing long neck on the line.
Sir Lovesalot (Darci Brahma-Sound Lover) the other LA bred runner in the Telegraph produced a terrific performance to run sixth from his wide barrier.
LA offer close relations to Xanadu and Sir Lovesalot at the Karaka Yearling Sales which get underway in Auckland on Monday 28 January. LOT 329 is an outstanding Stratum colt from a Savabeel half sister to Sir Lovesalot while LOT 639 pictured right, in the Select Sale on Wednesday is an Align colt from a Centaine half sister to Xanadu.
He may have been bred in Australia but LA still has a very strong connection to Glorious Days (Hussonet-San Century by Centaine) the winner of the Gr.1 Stewards Cup at 1600m in Hong Kong on Sunday having bred the first five generations of his family. Opportunities to buy fillies from the family are rare, but lot 21 in our Karaka Premier Sale draft is a Darci Brahma filly from the same family.
Our Karaka Premier draft have all arrived safe and well in Auckland and will be available for inspection from Wednesday 23 January. Our Select Sale draft will be on the parade grounds and ready for inspection from Friday 25 January.
We look forward to seeing you in our usual spot in Barn D at Karaka.
