Coming on the back of a fortnight that saw him deliver another two stakes performances in the Northern Hemisphere, exciting shuttle stallion Time Test is off the mark in black-type events downunder with promising juvenile Leedox (Time Test- Bella Carolina by O’Reilly) landing the Listed 1400m Barfoot and Thompson Auckland Futurity Stakes at Pukekohe on Saturday.
Time Test helped himself to further black type with the John Clapham bred and raced filly Timeless running third in the Pukekohe feature.
Bred by Mapperley Stud principal Simms Davison, Leedox was a $220k purchase from the stud’s 2021 Karaka Book 1 draft by Bruce Perry for Lib Petagna.
A strong finishing third on debut at Matamata over 1200m on 13 May, Leedox appreciated the step to 1400m on Saturday.
Leedox is Time Test’s fifth individual stakes winner and the first from his oldest NZ crop. He was the only stallion with three runners in the Karaka Million in January, including the 4th place getter Time Flies.
Currently serving his largest and easily his most commercial book of mares to date in the NH, Time Test is due back at Little Avondale in August, where he will stand the 2022 season at $10,000 plus GST.
