Nadeem Run Continues

In a week that culminates with Nadeem’s ’first NZ conceived runner in a G1 event, it’s fitting that the milestone comes on the back of a very productive period for the stallion. Over the last month nine progeny of the G1 winning son of Redoute’s Choice have won and he’s had 16 minor place-getters during the same period. In South Africa, his progressive son Fareeq ( Nadeem -Azwa by Haafhd), 4th in a strong Listed event at his penultimate start, won his 4 th race, over 1400m, while last season’s...

Best On Breeding

Two half-sisters born in England in the 1940's are still exerting a major influence on the breed in Australasia. The unraced Sunbride (GB) was imported to New Zealand where she spent her life at Te Parae Stud. (Now Little Avondale) The daughter of the Solario stallion Tai Yang would ultimately cover herself in glory claiming the honour of Broodmare Of The Year twice. But that seemed a long way off when the first four foals of Sunbride reached the track. None were of little consequence until...

Nadeem Filly Wins St Ledger Trial

Shared Secrets ( Nadeem -Eva Kelly by O’Reilly) win in The Dominion Post NZ St Leger Trial at Otaki on Saturday continues an excellent run of form by the progeny of her sire Nadeem. Coming off a fast finishing 4 th in the 1600m Group 3 Desert Gold Stakes at her most recent start, the Mark Oulaghan trained filly was entitled to be the modicum of good support at Otaki. However stepping to 2100m for the first time and competing against four-year-old company is never easy yet the Nadeem filly...

Son Of Per Incanto In Impressive Sydney Win

Consistent 4YO Lanciato (Per Incanto -Surreptitious by O’Reilly) gained a well deserved first Australian success when finishing strongly to win over 1400m at Rosehill on Wednesday. A dual winner when trained by Graham Richardson, the LA and JML Bloodstock bred gelding had placed in four of his last five starts, all in Sydney, prior to Wednesday’s success. Lanciato’s win follows Cantare’s ( Per Incanto -Nanneri by Le Bec Fin) 12 length demolition of his R65 opponents at Gisborne on Sunday.

In conjunction with First Light Racing and Paul Willetts, Gai and co-trainer Adrian Bott signed for the Per Incanto-Fast Quickstep filly on the final day of the Inglis Classic Sale earlier this week. Group 2 Danehill Stakes winner Saracino ( Per Incanto -Bella Daniela by O’Reilly) tackled the best older sprinters in the country in Saturday’s 1400m Group 1 NRM Sprint, fighting on courageously to finish a close third behind the winner Start Wondering and runner-up Natuzzi. Meanwhile at the other two domestic Saturday meetings, Don Carlo ( Per Incanto -Turf Fire by O’Reilly) registered his third win at just his sixth start when successful over 1200m at Riccarton, while at Woodville, fellow...

LA are once again delighted to offer a select Classic draft of four...
