A still, warm Masteron Sunday morning provided the perfect setting for over 100 clients and visitors who came to the farm for our annual yearling...

We'd like to thank everyone for a great Parade Day. Just over 100 viewing this years draft from sires Zabeel, O'Reilly, Pins, Darci Brahma, Nadeem, Mastercraftsman, Stratum, Pentire, Towkay, Savabeel, Thewayyouare, Align, Road To Rock, Elusive City, Ifraaj, Keeper and Tavistock. This Sunday sees the annual parade of our Karaka yearlings. The yearlings will be paraded first at 10.30am followed by the stallions Nadeem, Per Incanto and Towkay. We would be delighted if you could then stay on for some refreshments. For directions to LA please click here. What a Xmas for Nadeem ! In the space of ten days the stallion has had 12 individual winners. Some of the more impressive winners were the John, Wayne and Michael Hawkes trained three-year-old Happy Galaxy ( Nadeem -Seven...
THE winner is Alistair Murdoch from Wanganui and his Per Incanto/Summer Nymph colt pictured right. Congratulations Alistair a case of URLAR...
A wide draw, equal topweight and the prospect of a wet track are the obstacles facing the LA bred Viadana (Towkay -Yeah Nah) as she chases a hatrick of wins and her second consecutive group win, in the Gr.2 Rich Hill Mile at Ellerslie on New Years Day. Purchased from our 2010 Karaka Select Sale draft for just $29,000 by her trainer Lance Noble, Viadana has a full brother in our 2013 Karaka Select Sale draft as LOT 1035. The LA bred Stella Bella (Savabeel- Chatto Creek ), a barnmate of Viadana...
Our Karaka 2010 Premier draft featured a number of good looking individuals. Arguably our two most popular in pre sale inspections were the Darci Brahma- Sound Lover colt –now racing as Sir Lovesalot and a stakeswinner last weekend at Te Rapa – and an Elusive City - Shahiid colt, who racing as Cosmo King , recorded his second win from his last three starts when successful in Sydney last Thursday. Trained by Bart Cummings who purchased him at Karaka, Cosmo King was a big colt who was going to...
Sir Lovesalot (Darci Brahma- Sound Lover ) joined group three winner Viadana ( Towkay -Yeah Nah) in becoming the second stakeswinner bred on the farm in three weeks of racing when successful in the Listed Shaw’s Wire Ropes Sprint over 1400m at Te Rapa on Sunday. Sold from our 2010 Karaka Premier draft to Hong Kong owner Dominic Li, the four-year-old, who now has the enviable record of five wins from 11 career starts, is next set to run in the Group Two Rich Hill Mile at Ellerslie on New Years...
L’Amour ( Towkay -Penthouse Blue) took her earnings through the $100,000 barrier with a typically courageous performance to land the Graeme Thomsen Antique Jewellery Handicap over 1400m at Trentham on Saturday. The win of L’Amour, her sixth career success, follows the win of the LA and Nicole Smythe bred Viadana (Towkay -Yeah Nah), in the Group Three Eagle Technology Stakes at Ellerslie on the previous Saturday. The LA and Helen Phinney bred Purfect (Keeper-Centaine Gu Li), who was successful...
The win of the LA bred Viadana ( Towkay - Yeah Nah by Kinjite) in the Gr.3 Eagle Technology Stakes 1600m at Ellerslie on Saturday has extra significance for the farm as we will be offering her full brother at the Karaka Select Sale on 1 February. Her rider, the internationally experienced Mark du Plessis predicted even bigger things in store for the five-year-old mare when commenting to the media post race. “I’m very confident she can win a group one race,” du Plessis said. “The win was very...
As Last weeks Ready To Run Sale results testify, Towkay is a great option if you are considering having your mare served late in the season and taking the resulting progeny to this Sale rather than the earlier and more traditional yearling sale route. The three lots by Towkay who sold last week realised in excess of $360,000, fantastic value for a stallion standing this season at a service fee of just $5,000 plus GST. Overall it was a great couple of days at Karaka for LA . Our three entries,...
Glorious Days (Hussonet-San Century) who won the Gr.2 Jockey Club Mile in Hong Kong on Sunday joins a number of recent group winners descending from female lines developed by LA and its predecessor Te Parae . His second, third and fourth dams, Sandrac, Sellou and Sanderae were all bred by the family. This is the same family as the New Zealand Broodmare of the Year Gussy Godiva who left AJC Derby winner Roman Emperor and the Waikato Stud stallion Rios. LA will take two close relatives of...
Exciting Nadeem four-year-old Mujaarib ( Nadeem - defied his lack of experience to win the Gr.2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile at Turffontein racetrack in Johannesburg on 3 November. A member of Nadeem’s oldest crop, the Mike De Kock trained entire, who is raced by his breeder Sheik Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, now heads to the Gr.1 Summer Cup, one of the feature races on the South African racing calendar. Mujaarib is Nadeem’s sixth individual stakeswinner and his second at group two...
